Taking it on the road with family’s from cheer

Mom's you are going to find you will make some amazing friends when your child starts to cheer.

Examples of some of the best trips  are as follows. Plus there is always the one in the group that makes everything over the top fun.

Where should I start, the Nickelodeon trip, the keys trip, or the trips down to competition. Nickelodeon birthday trip with 22 people sums up how much fun we all had. I am reminiscing here just a bit. This trip takes us back to September 2010, but it is worth talking about. Right after the game we drove up to Orlando, some of the crew arrived earlier and started having fun before we got there texting us pictures of their fun (uncle Jason).

When our entourage arrives at the hotel we definitely make it known we have arrived.  

Mom's  don't let our group scare you away from letting your child cheer.

We are ready to hit the pool with a bunch of screaming children.

The cheer dad’s hung out with their bottle of crown and beers being somewhat quiet chanting ever so slightly “Bundy Room, Bundy Room” the kids always like to chime in they think it funny. *** yes our group chants.

Night falls and we are all gathered in one of the rooms hanging and eating dinner, when the boys discover a door to an adjoining room open. Needless to say the boys felt the need to check it out. To their surprise the room is not empty, and one of the moms locks them in with the family next door. Boys will be boys.

I do have to say you will get closer a lot with your child if you are not already. I find that taking all these trips and doing everything with your child as a family is great for everyone.

Cheering in the rain, birthday parties, and helping a friend with a project

Some of the activities that you will have the chance to do with your little girl when you be come a cheer mom. I only have one daughter, but during cheer season I end up having a lot more. The girls your daughter gets close with you will be getting close with also.

After cheering in the rain for 4 hour and being wet and cold, Sean and I took Hanna and Taylor to lunch at Bru’s room. ***After a game your child will always ask to bring another little girl home or she will ask to go with another family home.

After lunch we took the girls back to the house and her other friends started to arrive for Taylor sleepover party.

** Note - some times things turn out bigger that we expect them to. a great example of this is: What was going to be a child’s only sleepover turn into an impromptu party for the parents as well, good times, good times. All the parents left around 12:30 and we had 6 out of the 10 kids sleep at the house. I put three kids in each room. Hoping everyone was going to sleep nicely was wishful thinking. I ended up sleeping with 3 three of them so they would go to sleep, and they did. Around 3am I made my way up stairs to my own bed.

Other things to expect after a long weekend: Monday morning rolls around and I have a child with 101 fever, I called her out from cheer just like you would do for work. I was told if I do not have a doctor’s note she will get a demerit and sit out ½ a game. Mom got the note.

Ladies Cheer is like a job for your child. one girl missing from a game or practice is not productive for the team. They need everyone to show up it is important.

***Competition, Competition, Competition - they all want to be superior.

Cheer Moms hit charity event for one of their own!

To all moms and dads, we are all a team and we need to support each others projects, because you never know when it is going to be your turn. (you might need some support from another parent)

This event is a great example of how we all support each other. (This is an annual event)

The amazing Kim W. put together a monumental Charity Masquerade Ball to benefit Susan G. Komen for the cure at her facility, Signature Memories Event Center in Fort Lauderdale http://www.sigmemories.com along with fellow cheer dad Brandon K. who built a haunted house and took it to the next level.

I dressed up as Madonna looked amazing I have to say. My husband was the crypt master, Kim wore a gorgeous Moulin Rouge Costume, Angie looked outstanding in her Moon-Light Bite Light-Up Vampire Costume, and Candice was dazzling in her outfit. Lisa took us back with her classic playboy bunny costume and Jeanine and her husband played the part of the Jersey Shore characters. Jon stepped it up with his LMAFO outfit that he ran all over South Florida looking for.

The party was amazing and the pictures say it all, thank you Kim for all your hard work in putting together an amazing night for everyone to enjoy and also to raise money for a great cause.

Typical Morning for a Cheer Mom!

What an amazing weekend! Let me start off with the morning. Mom and Taylor head down to sunrise at 8am, Mom is working while driving on fixing a clients (fellow cheer mom’s), website who is hosting an amazing Charity Masquerade Ball to benefit Susan G. Komen for the cure. By 9:15am the web site is up and running http://www.sigmemories.com

Not all morning are this crazy but expect to be up early and getting your child ready for a day of work.

It is hot on the field for you and all the girls, but you need to be very supportive for your child.  That means not complaining from mom!

Uniforms need to be clean and you need to make sure your child’s hair is up properly in a high pony with the correct bow. Ladies it is very important that you always check your email before you leave for a game. Your coach could request something and you need to make sure you are coming to the field with the proper attire for your child.

You need to assure that your cheerleader has had plenty of water to drink before you leave the house. You also need to make sure you bring plenty of water with ice to the field for your cheerleader.

Suntan lotion and bug spray are a MUST. Remember trying to make your younger girls remember all these things is not going to happen. You are the parent and you are just as much a part of the team a she is.

What it’s like to be a cheer mom!

Let me start out by saying, anyone that knows cheer knows there is a lot of DRAMA!

I’m not the typical cheer mom, come to think about it all the moms I know are not typical cheer moms we are smart, witty and sexy. We all work and some of us work and go to school full time. However we all find time to take our daughters to the field for practice multiple days a week plus we spend 4 plus hours on a football field every Saturday. My daughters’ team practices 6 nights a week, crazy I know! (if you want your child to participate in this sport, just know you will be working just as hard) It's all worth it!

Depending on what team or league you’re on depends on the amount of fun your family is going to have for the season. My daughter Taylor is on the Coral Springs Chargers there is a lot of WORK and a lot of PRACTICE and most parents keep to themselves. If you’re on the Coconut Creek Eagles you are going to have a lot of FUN and a lot of family gatherings and practice as well.

Taylor was on the Eagles so we know both sides of the coin. The Eagles have one thing no other squad has and that is The Bundy Room! Thank you K and J

We still spend most of our time with the families from the Eagles.
